The "Narrative Gym" sessions are the real workout. They provide an opportunity to actually build your communication muscles through the proven ABT approach, with an open and honest exchange to help participants refine there message.

The ABT Framework Training Program is offering a chance for 4 individuals to strengthen their communications on a topic of their choice during a group work session that we call a "Narrative Gym." This is an opportunity for you to get the constructive communications input of up to 25 people trained in the ABT Framework.
A Narrative Gym session is a half hour discussion in which the assembled group works with one individual to help strengthen the narrative core (i.e. the core message) of their project (a proposal, paper, or presentation). The central tool is the ABT (And, But, Therefore) Framework. The session is run by a MODERATOR (Randy Olson or Matthew David), has a HOST (the person with the project), up to 25 BUILDERS (people who have taken the ABT Framework training who will offer up suggestions), and then is also open for observation but not participation by OBSERVERS. The host begins the half hour with a 3-minute presentation using 3 slides maximum (Randy Olson will work with you in advance preparing this material). Then there are 5 questions that are presented by the Moderator which are answered and discussed by the Builders and the host. Answers are entered in the chat window, then compiled on screen during the session, producing at the end 3-5 pages of notes for the host to help find the narrative core of the material and strengthen it as best as possible.
We ran this last summer (2022) with two US Forest Service participants, Jeff Morrisette and Travis Warziniack, both of whom found it very valuable.
